Bio:
Jacob B. Johnson
Jacob B. Johnson is a vocalist, arts educator, multi-instrumentalist and award-winning actor. Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Johnson has performed on many of Cleveland's stages, including Severance Hall, Bop Stop, Nighttown, House of Blues, Music Box Supper Club, Tri-C JazzFest, and Playhouse Square.
As a vocalist, his professional works have been heard on national TV networks such as ABC, FOX and PBS. He has also opened for Grammy award-winning artists such as Kid Cudi, Ledisi and Lisa Fischer, as well as headlining summer festivals in the midwest. Most recently, Johnson went viral on social media after being invited sing on stage with Grammy award-winning vocalist, Patti LaBelle.
Johnson has accompanied the likes of internet sensations, national performers and international touring artists for the world-renowned Severance Hall and Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts as a jazz pianist. These artists include Reggie Kelly, Callie Day, Kierra Sheard-Kelly, Lalah Hathaway and Rachelle Ferrell. Johnson had also performed at the White House for former president, Barack Obama, and other dignitaries during his second term.
His other professional works include regional and national theater productions where Johnson has served as vocal coach, orchestra pianist or music director. These professional productions include The Wiz, Brooklyn The Musical, 42nd Street, Boundless Grace, In The Heights, Bring It On: The Musical, Dreamgirls, Urinetown, Black Nativity, and Ain't Misbehavin'. Johnson has also written music scores for independent films and scripted streaming TV shows.
Currently, Johnson is the organist for Zion Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, vocal music director at Dike School of the Arts, resident performer for the oldest operating african-american theater in the country, the historic Karamu House Theater, and performs regularly in concert halls and jazz venues in northeast Ohio.
Kenesha Terrell
Kenesha Terrell is a dynamic entrepreneur, vocal coach, and the founder of Cultural Collective Arts, a Cleveland-based organization committed to artistic
and professional development for inner-city youth and adults. Kenesha found her voice in music at age four, using it as both an outlet and a means of support as a young mother. One of her earliest accomplishments was making it to the top 2 at Kids Apollo, and since then she’s performed at venues like House of
Blues, Playhouse Square, NASA, and Karamu House. She’s done a number of musicals — landing lead roles — and has also had the privilege of singing for President Barack Obama and other dignitaries.
Kenesha studied at the Cleveland School of the Arts, The Music Settlement, Tri-C, and Cleveland State University, for Music Therapy. She has shared stages and worked with renowned artists such as Kim Nazarian of The New York Voices, The Manhattan Transfer, and Le’Andria Johnson, Hamilton Hardin, The Cleveland Orchestra, and many more, showcasing her talent
across genres. Her extensive experience in mental health services also inspires her approach to teaching, as she believes in the power of art to uplift, heal, and
empower individuals.
With a background in vocal performance and a passion for community building, Kenesha has dedicated her career to creating transformative spaces where creativity, education, and empowerment converge. Her multipurpose venue, The Collective Space, hosts workshops, classes, and events that celebrate diverse talents and foster community connections.
Kenesha brings years of experience in music education, artist development, and live performance. She offers a range of services, including private voice lessons, music theory instruction, and artistic coaching.
Most recently, she launched an
Adult Jazz Vocal Ensemble and weekly Singer’s Shed, expanding her offerings and foraying into adult programming & classes, giving them an opportunity to hone their vocal skills and share their love of music with the broader community.
A proud single mother, Kenesha balances her dedication to Cultural Collective Arts with a commitment to raising her daughter in an environment filled with music, creativity, and growth. She believes in the power of art to inspire
change and build self-confidence, and she brings this vision to life in every
program she leads. Her work has made a lasting impact on students of all ages, encouraging them to dream bigger and find their voice, both on stage and in life. Kenesha’s passion and dedication have made her a beacon of inspiration,
admonishing her audiences to embrace their potential.
